The Pursuit of Happyness: An Inspiration Movie

The Pursuit of Happyness Story

The Pursuit of Happyness is based on the true story of American millionaire Chris Gardner.

The movie focuses on the experience of Chris Gardner, an ordinary salesman, who sold an expensive scanner. He was hard enough, but almost nobody thought the scanner was useful and nobody bought it.

The basic cost of living could only be sustained by the few scanners he sold each month. Chris’s wife worked several jobs a day during this time. Eventually, she couldn’t stand the financial pressure and left Chris, leaving their 5-year-old son to fend for himself.

Chris and his son were thrown out of the apartment because they had no money to pay rent for a long time. Not only that, but Chris went through all sorts of difficulties.

Chris wants to live a good life, so he decides to be a good stockbroker. However, in the end, he still had his own insistence and efforts to get the success.

Several Moving Moments

#1. If you want something, go get it.

Chris wanted to crush his son’s dream when he said he wanted to be a professional basketball player. Finally, he felt guilty and said to his son,“You got a dream, you got to protect it. People can’t do something themselves, they wanna tell you you can’t do it. If you want something, go get it. Period.”

#2. Everyone’s dream can only come true by themselves.

In order to save time and improve work efficiency, Chris didn’t drink water all day to reduce the frequency of going to the toilet. He studied when he ate, when he drove, late at night by the light of the window. He overcame all the obstacles and worked towards his goal regardless of whatever he met.

#3. Chris wants to be a successful stockbroker.

Countless times he doubted whether he could succeed, but each time doubt was followed by firmer action and more persistent efforts. He had to do someone else’s nine hours of work in six hours. In addition, Chris had no salary during his six-month internship, so he had to keep selling scanners in his spare time to make ends meet.

#4. Being optimistic though life is hard.

No matter how hard the life was, Chris always kept optimistic in front of his son and did not want him to feel the hardship of life too early. Chris plays time travel with his children when they have nowhere to live but spend the night at the train station. They pretend to travel through the ages of cavemen, find a cave to live down, this “cave” is just a station toilet. His son fell asleep in Chris’ arms, but the door of the toilet was knocked loudly. Chris put his hand over his son’s ear, put his foot against the door, and then he began to cry.

Chris is always striving for his dream. Finally, he became a successful stock manager because of his excellent performance and achievements. Chris not only succeeded in his work, but also established a good father in his son’s heart.
